Kong Audio - ChineeNanXiao v1.42 VSTi for Windows

• Authentic Southern Bamboo Flute: Captures the deep, resonant, membrane-free timber of the ancient Nanxiao, historically related to the Tang Dynasty ChiBa and Japanese Shakuhachi.
• 24-Bit / 96 kHz Audiophile Sample Pool: Over 200 MB of pristine master multi-samples delivering pure acoustic resonance and dynamic breath control.
• Expressive Real-Time Articulations: Seamless live performance switching across authentic legatos, tremolos, portamento slides, trills, and staccato expressions.
• MIDI Performance Control: Deep keyboard expression utilizing velocity curves, Aftertouch sensitivity, and Mod-wheel pitch/expression modulations.
• C3–G5 Core Note Range: Optimized octave coverage accommodating both traditional Asian court music and modern cinematic scoring arrangements.

The Melancholic Voice of Chinese Wind Instruments
Unlike the bright, buzzing character of the membrane-equipped Dizi flute, the Nanxiao (Southern Xiao) produces a smooth, woody, and meditative resonance imbued with deep sorrow and understated elegance. Tracing its direct lineage back to the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD), the Nanxiao holds a venerable place in the musical heritage of southern China's Fujian region.

Kong Audio ChineeNanXiao translates this heritage into a versatile, responsive virtual instrument. Its solid yet gentle low end and breathy overtones blend naturally into modern orchestral arrangements, ambient textures, acoustic pop ballads, and cinematic film cues.

Unrivaled Live Performance Capabilities
Engineered for spontaneous expression, ChineeNanXiao integrates comprehensive keyswitches alongside continuous controller mapping. Composers can trigger nuanced grace notes, pitch bends, breath releases, and flutter-tongue vibratos in real time, bypassing tedious post-recording MIDI automation editing.

Performance Articulations & Range:

• Note Range: C3 to G5 across all main instrument patches.
• Legato & Slur Transitions: Authentic note-to-note transitions capturing natural breath and finger placement.
• Ornamentations: Finger slides, rapid trills, microtonal bends, and expressive tremolo flutter.
• Dynamic Control: Mod-wheel (CC1) dynamic swell, Pitch Bend range adjustment, and Aftertouch vibrato depth.
• GUI Controls: Built-in master volume, envelope attack/release shaping, and octave transpose switches.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

• Q: How do I run this 32-bit plugin in a 64-bit DAW (such as FL Studio 64-bit or Studio One)?
A: In DAWs with native bit-bridging (like FL Studio or REAPER), simply add the 32-bit VST folder to your plugin manager and scan. For 64-bit-only hosts without built-in bridging, use jBridge to convert the .dll file into a 64-bit compatible wrapper.
• Q: Where is the sample directory located?
A: The installer automatically packages and links the 24-bit/96 kHz sample pool to the plugin DLL during setup.
• Q: Does this plugin require an internet connection?
A: No, ChineeNanXiao is completely standalone and functions 100% offline.
