Kong Audio - Chineewinds v1.8.4 VSTi for Windows

• Diverse Multi-Flute Collection: Includes seven distinct bamboo flutes: two Tenor Dizi, two Treble Dizi, two Bass Dizi, and one regional ChaoZhou Dizi for complete melodic and tonal coverage.
• High-Resolution Master Sampling: Professionally recorded at 24-bit / 96 kHz resolution, preserving the organic breath textures, natural reed membrane vibrations (Di Mo), and resonant overtone blooms.
• Dynamic Real-Time Playability: Integrated KeySwitch engine paired with assignable Mod Wheel (CC1) and MIDI Aftertouch routing to perform expressive ornaments and continuous timbre swells on the fly.
• Rich Traditional Phrasing: Packed with authentic performance articulations including rapid trills, finger bends, breath attacks, grace notes, flutter tonguing, and expressive legatos.
• Efficient Low-Footprint Architecture: Uses roughly 320 MB of meticulously optimized sample memory, delivering ultra-fast load times and negligible CPU load during massive orchestral projects.
• Instant Ethnic Character: Delivers true classical Chinese musical aesthetics straight out of the box without requiring tedious external equalization or tone-sculpting chains.

Modern Context & Design Philosophy
The Dizi (traditional Chinese transverse bamboo flute) is one of the most prominent, expressive, and enduring wind instruments in East Asian musical history. Recognizable by its special bamboo membrane (Di Mo) covering an additional resonance hole between the embouchure and finger holes, the Dizi produces a unique, slightly buzzing, bright tone that distinguishes it instantly from standard Western flutes. For centuries, the instrument has played a pivotal role in theatrical folk opera, classical imperial ensembles, and contemporary cinematic scores.

Kong Audio developed ChineeWinds to provide modern composers and arrangers with an uncompromising, deeply sampled virtual collection of these historic woodwinds. Rather than offering a generalized or synthesized approximation, ChineeWinds captures the specific acoustic personalities of various traditional flute registers and regional styles.

From the resonant, deep breath of the Bass Dizi to the bright, soaring melodies of the Treble and ChaoZhou flutes, this collection provides composers with a versatile toolkit for scoring historical drama, modern video game soundtracks, Asian pop anthems, and ambient world fusion. Every sample is captured in studio-grade 24-bit/96kHz clarity, capturing not only the fundamental pitches but also the intricate breath noise, wind friction, and acoustic attack variations that give the Dizi its unmistakable spirit.

Comprehensive Bamboo Flute Arsenal

• Tenor Dizi (x2): The quintessential classical lead flute, offering a balanced, melodic, and versatile tone suitable for central melodic themes.
• Treble Dizi (x2): High-register flutes designed for fast, agile, bird-like ornamental passages, sharp attacks, and soaring leads.
• Bass Dizi (x2): Low-register, deeply resonant flutes that provide warm, meditative, and atmospheric low-end textures.
• ChaoZhou Dizi (x1): A specialized regional folk flute with distinct harmonic overtones and traditional Cantonese/Chaozhou ornamental resonance.

Expressive Performance Engine & Articulations

• Dynamic Key-Switch Switching: Swiftly shift between sustained notes, expressive vibrato, rapid staccatos, grace-note flourishes, and authentic sliding fingerings in real time.
• Continuous Modulation Routing: Map breath pressure, vibrato intensity, and dynamic filter curves directly to your MIDI keyboard's Mod Wheel and Aftertouch.
• Realistic Breath & Membrane Nuances: Preserves the delicate membrane buzz and natural mechanical air transients for total acoustic authenticity.
• Integrated ADSR Envelope: Intuitive controls over attack, decay, sustain, and release to tailor the flute response to any arrangement speed.

Installation Instructions

1. Unpack Release: Extract the archive contents to a temporary directory using 7-Zip or WinRAR.
2. Execute Setup / Copy Assets:
   • If an installer executable is included: Run Setup.exe as Administrator and direct the installation path to your standard 32-bit VST folder:
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins\
     • or C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins\
   • If provided as portable DLL and data files: Copy ChineeWinds.dll alongside its sample bank folders into your preferred 32-bit VST directory.
3. 64-bit Host Bridging (Optional / jBridge):
   • Launch jBridger.exe.
   • Select the 32-bit directory where ChineeWinds.dll is located.
   • Choose your 64-bit VST plug-in folder as the target output destination to generate the .64.dll bridge pointer.
4. DAW Rescan & Initialization:
   • Launch your DAW, open Plugin Manager / Preferences, and run a complete plugin scan.
   • Load ChineeWinds onto an instrument track. No key, dongle, or activation is required.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

• Problem: The instrument does not show up inside a 64-bit DAW.
  • Solution: ChineeWinds is a 32-bit VSTi architecture. Confirm that your 64-bit DAW's VST search paths include your 32-bit plugin folder (for hosts with internal bridging like Reaper/FL Studio) or create a bridged file using jBridge.
• Problem: The plugin loads successfully but cannot find the flute soundbank.
  • Solution: Ensure that all associated .dat files or sample resource folders remain in the exact same directory alongside ChineeWinds.dll. Do not rename sample directories.
• Problem: Keyswitches are not triggering articulation changes.
  • Solution: Check your MIDI track octave settings. Keyswitches are typically located in the lower octaves (C0-B0 or C-1-B-1 depending on your DAW's octave numbering standard).
