The Monophonic Solo Synthesizer That Changed Electronic Music
Released in 1995, the KORG Prophecy redefined solo synthesis. While the market was dominated by standard PCM sample-playback romplers, the Prophecy broke through with raw, expressive physical modeling synthesis (MOSS). Renowned for its searing sync leads, chest-thumping sub-basses, and organic acoustic/synthetic hybrids, the Prophecy became a secret weapon for acts like The Prodigy, Orbital, and Chemical Brothers.

The software edition brings this digital synthesis powerhouse into modern production environments with bit-accurate DSP emulation of the original hardware circuits and digital signal processing algorithms.

Limitless Timbral Flexibility and Physical Modeling
Unlike conventional subtractive synths, the Prophecy can simulate the mechanical behavior of wind instruments, plucked acoustic strings, and resonant acoustic tubes alongside traditional sawtooth and pulse waves. Combined with dual multi-mode resonant filters, wave shaping, and distortion stages, the Prophecy produces cutting lead lines and punchy basses that cut through dense mixes.

Synthesis Models & Filter Section:

• Oscillator Models (MOSS Engine):

  • Standard Analog: Dual modeled analog oscillators with continuous waveshaping and pulse-width modulation.
  • Comb Filter Synthesis: Noise and impulse excitation through tuned feedback delay lines.
  • VPM (Variable Phase Modulation): Phase-modulated FM algorithms for metallic, bell-like, and aggressive digital textures.
  • Physical Modeling (Brass, Reed, Pluck): Physical acoustic models of reed vibrations, brass lip pressures, and struck/plucked strings.
  • Ring Modulation & Cross Modulation: Complex sideband generation and frequency modulation.

• Dual Multi-Mode Resonant Filters:

  • Two independent filter blocks configurable in Series or Parallel.
  • Filter modes: Low-Pass (12dB/24dB), High-Pass, Band-Pass, and Band-Reject (Notch).

• Modulation & Integrated Effects:

  • 4 envelope generators (EG) with complex multi-stage rate/level parameters.
  • 4 LFOs with tempo sync, key tracking, and offset controls.
  • Onboard studio multi-effects: Distortion, Wah, Chorus/Flanger, Delay, Reverb, and Dual-Band EQ.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

• Q: Can I map the Ribbon Controller to my MIDI keyboard?
A: Yes, the software interface allows you to assign any standard MIDI CC (e.g., Mod Wheel CC01, Aftertouch, or Pitch Bend) to the virtual ribbon and wheel controls.
• Q: Are original hardware SysEx presets supported?
A: Yes, you can import original KORG Prophecy hardware SysEx (.syx) patch dumps directly into the software preset manager.
• Q: What should I do if the plugin asks for KORG Software Pass login?
A: Ensure you have executed the Team R2R / RET activator utility before launching the DAW to bypass the online authentication check.
