Waves Installation FAQ

Q: Why don't you support the installation of individual products?

A:
Waves has a complex dependency structure between files and different versions, which makes installing individual products difficult—even for Waves itself. The official Waves Central installer has also had various issues and bugs, as documented in its release notes.

Another common problem is that users may have difficulty following detailed installation instructions. For a clean and reliable installation, we recommend:

Q: Why can't I change the installation folder?

A:
The installation path is determined by Waves and is not designed to be changed manually. Modifying the installation path through the Windows Registry may not work correctly because some Waves components do not support custom installation locations.

For this reason, we recommend using the default Waves installation path.

Q: How can I remove plugins that I don't use?

A:
To remove unwanted plugins, delete their corresponding .bundle files from:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V

Some plugins may also store additional content under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Data

For future cleanup, we recommend creating a simple batch file that can automatically remove unnecessary files.

Q: Do the online features work?

A:
Some online features may work when you are logged in. However, we strongly recommend not connecting modified or unofficial software to the internet, as this may trigger licensing, validation, or other unexpected issues.

Q: Why does the COSMOS family still ask me to log in?

A:
The COSMOS components may be authorized, but the software can still require an online login. This authentication requirement cannot always be bypassed as it could with some older versions.

In other words, authorization of the installed components does not necessarily eliminate the COSMOS login requirement.
