The Legend of the 1978 Polyphonic Masterpiece
Released in 1978, the original Prophet-5 transformed the music production landscape overnight by becoming the world’s first fully programmable polyphonic synthesizer. Its warm Curtis and SSM analog filters, aggressive sync capabilities, and groundbreaking patch memory defined the sonic signature of artists ranging from Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, and John Carpenter to modern electronic and cinematic composers.

Unlike sterile digital synthesizers, the Prophet-5 possessed a living, breathing analog presence characterized by subtle voice-to-voice inconsistencies, oscillator drift, and rich harmonic overtones that cut through any mix effortlessly.

Official Collaboration with Sequential
GForce Software collaborated directly with the Sequential engineering team to model every single transistor, capacitor, and resistor behavior of this legendary hardware unit. The result is a software instrument that responds with identical tactile dynamics, non-linear filter drive, and raw musicality—expanded with contemporary modulation routings, velocity sensitivity, and modern polyphonic voice allocation.

Key Performance Capabilities:

• Authentic Dual Oscillator Core: Two voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) per voice generating simultaneous Sawtooth, Triangle, and variable Pulse waveforms with hard sync.
• Legendary 4-Pole Low-Pass Filter: Meticulously modeled 24 dB/octave resonant filter capable of self-oscillation, rich saturation, and precise envelope tracking.
• Famous Poly-Mod Modulation Section: Route Oscillator B and the Filter Envelope to modulate Oscillator A Frequency, Pulse Width, and Filter Cutoff for aggressive timbral transformations.
• Vintage Knob Parameter: Introduce authentic component drift and voltage fluctuation to replicate the individual quirks of vintage hardware revisions.
• Expanded Polyphony & Unison: Switch between original 5-voice limits, expanded polyphony up to 16+ voices, and massive mono-unison modes with adjustable detune.
• Flexible Arpeggiator & Preset Browser: Modern preset tagging, instant A/B comparison, search filtering, and an integrated multi-pattern arpeggiator.

Changelog:

• Fixed incorrect font rendering and display issues on Windows operating systems.
• Fixed MIDI CC mapping permissions and preset saving authorization bugs.
• Fixed FX Lock behavior on the A/B comparison toggle buttons.
• Fixed an issue where disabling the Hold function could prematurely cut currently held or sustained notes.
• General backend stability improvements and CPU usage optimizations.
