An evocative, tactile upright piano designed for producers who prioritize emotional resonance and physical mechanics over clinical clean sound. By capturing authentic hammer thumps, damper releases, long natural decay tails, and parallel magnetic cassette prints, Intimate Felt Piano delivers an authentic, nostalgic sound directly out of the box.

Bespoke Kawai KU3B Double-Felt Voicing: Prepared with two heavy layers of industrial wool felt wedged between the hammers and strings to eliminate brittle high-frequency attack transients while preserving rich, woody fundamental resonance.
Substantial 21.02 GB Sample Architecture: Deeply multi-sampled across the entire 88-key acoustic range, featuring unlooped long natural decay rings, delicate velocity transitions, and multi-round-robin sampling.
Three Independent Parallel Sound Engines:
- Pure Acoustic Double Felt: The dry, pristine acoustic capture of the dampened upright.
- Vintage Tape / Cassette Print: Samples tracked through analog cassette tape decks to inject organic saturation, subtle pitch warble, and harmonic density.
- Granular Shimmer / Ambient Bed: Extended acoustic decay tails processed through convolution and spectral engines to produce evolving, ethereal tonal pads.
Multi-Perspective Microphone Mixing: Blend seamlessly between Close/Player microphones (focused on hammer impact and soundboard wood) and Room microphones (capturing the acoustic space).
Independent Mechanical Foley Stage: Dedicated level faders for Key Release clatter, Pedal Action, Hammer Strike thuds, and continuous Room/Tape Hiss.
Integrated Lo-Fi DSP Rack: Built-in tape wow & flutter emulation, analog saturation drive, resonant low-pass/high-pass filters, and convolution reverb loaded with custom spatial impulse responses.

Engine 1: Pure Double-Felt Acoustic:
- Focuses on the low-to-medium dynamic range (pianissimo to mezzo-forte), where felt-prepared uprights produce their warmest, pillowy response.
- Preserves complete note decays without artificial digital looping or premature decay truncation.
Engine 2: Vintage Tape / Cassette Print:
- A dedicated, parallel-tracked sample library recorded directly onto magnetic tape.
- Delivers real tape head saturation, high-frequency rounding, and natural subtle compression that instantly provides a vintage, dusty character.
Engine 3: Textural Shimmer Pad:
- Synthesized directly from stretched acoustic harmonics and convolution swells of the KU3B piano.
- Provides an ambient layer that morphs beneath chords to fill dynamic space in minimalist arrangements.

Close / Player Perspective: Stereo microphones placed inside the cabinet inches from the hammers, capturing the woody mechanical strike and intimate player proximity.
Room Perspective: Stereo microphones positioned at a distance to capture natural room reflections, bloom, and stereo width.
Dedicated Foley Controls:
- Hammer Thump: Adjusts the physical percussive weight of the felt hitting the strings.
- Key Release: Regulates the acoustic wooden sound of the keys snapping back into place on note-off.
- Pedal Noise: Controls the damper lift whoosh and mechanical foot pedal action.
- Tape / Room Noise: Blends continuous analog background ambience that fills the space between sparse chords.

Wow & Flutter Modulation: Dial in authentic tape capstan instability, pitch wow, and high-frequency flutter.
Resonant Filter Stage:
- Low-Pass Filter: 12 dB/oct smooth roll-off to darken the timbre for vocal-centric mixes.
- High-Pass Filter: Strips sub-bass rumble to make room for low-end 808s and basslines.
Tape Saturation & Drive: Adds nonlinear harmonic saturation that thickens the upper-midrange harmonics.
Convolution Space Engine: Features bespoke impulse responses (IRs) ranging from intimate wooden rooms to expansive cathedral spaces.
