Esoteric Soviet Hardware & Precision Acoustic DSP
While the market is saturated with emulations of common American and British studio hardware, SnowTec focuses on rare, character-rich Soviet engineering and specialized acoustic translation. Rather than applying generic saturation algorithms, SnowTec models specific physical vacuum tubes, tape heads, and motor assemblies according to original technical documentation and circuit schematics.

From the punchy magnetic hysteresis and 0.4% motor flutter of a portable Soviet cassette deck to the euphonic second-order harmonics of military-grade 6S45P triodes, this bundle injects authentic analog character into sterile digital mixes.

Preserving the Soul of Expressive Solo Performances
Standard audio-to-MIDI converters force pitch detection onto rigid 12-tone equal temperament grids, stripping away expressive nuance. MELISMA preserves natural ornamentation, microtonal bends, and expressive slides common in traditional woodwinds, brass, and vocal performances, converting continuous melodic contours into expressive MIDI data for modern virtual instruments.

1. Chaika v1.0.3 (Low-Noise Soviet Triode Preamp):

• Emulation of a boutique preamplification circuit based on the high-slope Soviet 6S45P (6С45П) single triode.
• Characterized by open, uncompressed high frequencies, elastic low-end response, and prominent warm 2nd-order harmonic generation.
• Features a real-time hardware spectrum analyzer integrated directly into the front faceplate.

2. MELISMA v1.0.4 (Continuous Microtonal Audio-to-MIDI Converter):

• Monophonic acoustic pitch-tracking engine built for non-western scales and expressive solo instruments (duduk, clarinet, zurna, saxophone, solo vocals).
• Traces pitch curves as an unbroken vector before quantizing, ensuring expressive slides, portamento, vibrato, and quarter-tone intervals reach your DAW's MIDI track without disappearing.

3. E-302 v1.0.2 (Portable Cassette Player Emulation):

• Exact physical modeling of the iconic Soviet portable monophonic tape player "Elektronika 302-1" (Электроника 302-1).
• Modeled strictly to passport and schematic specifications:
  • Frequency response: 63 Hz – 10 kHz
  • Motor wow & flutter (detonation): 0.4%
  • Signal-to-noise ratio: 44 dB
  • Tape speed: 4.76 cm/s (Type I normal bias cassette formulation)
  • Pre-emphasis curve: 120 μs

4. Olimp-005C v1.0.3 (Reel-to-Reel Tape Saturator):

• Transforms the high-end Soviet Hi-Fi reel deck "Olimp MPK-005S" (Олимп МПК-005С) into an analog studio saturator.
• Modeled recording amplifiers, high-frequency bias magnetization, magnetic tape hysteresis, and playback head resonance.
• Features smooth tape saturation, natural peak compression, dual tape speed operation, wow/flutter modulation, authentic mechanical hiss, and 50 Hz mains hum.

5. PEQ-1 v1.2.7 (Photorealistic Tube Passive Equalizer):

• Tube-driven passive program equalizer inspired by classic Pultec architectures.
• Faithfully reproduces the simultaneous low-end boost and cut curve interactions for tightening kick drums and basslines.
• Imparts harmonic warmth through modeled input transformers and vacuum tube makeup stages.
• Photorealistic hardware GUI where all switches, knobs, and stepped selectors mirror real iron hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

• Q: How does MELISMA output MIDI into my DAW?
A: Load MELISMA as an insert effect on your audio track, open the plugin's MIDI output settings in your DAW, and route the generated MIDI track/port to your destination virtual instrument.
• Q: Can I disable the tape hiss and mains hum on E-302 and Olimp-005C?
A: Yes, both plugins feature dedicated noise/hum switches or level trimmers on their front panels to disable background artifacts when clean saturation is desired.
• Q: Why use the 6S45P tube model in Chaika over a standard 12AX7?
A: The 6S45P has significantly higher transconductance and lower internal noise compared to a standard 12AX7, yielding a faster transient response and cleaner harmonic sweetening without mid-range congestion.
